Show Evelyn Nesbit in 'Redemption' Is. film Feature 'Ti HAT the soul of a good woman can-not can-not be crushed or defiled, no matter how harshly adverse fortune may treat her, is the message conveyed in "Redemption," "Redemp-tion," wich had its Initial appearance in Salt Lake at the Liberty theater last night, with Evelyn Nesbit and her son, Russell Thaw, in the sfellar roles. A feature of the production is a dance executed by Kvelyn Nesbit and her husband, hus-band, Jack Clifford, who assisted her in a vaudeville turn at a local theater last season. "Redemption." or, strictly speaking, the foundation jipon which the story is based, is taken from Evelyn Nesbit' s early career. The past life of the star is vaguely suggested in the character she portrays, and the purpose of her life and her hope in tho stitmg love for her son is made the kevnote of the film and Its title. This young woman shows herself a versatile screen actress, charming In the lighter moments of the play, emerging strong in the emotional scenes, where she depicts with touching force a mother's moth-er's love. She has beauty, charm and personality. ' Here and there are touches of comedy to relieve the many tense dramatic situations. sit-uations. Excellent direction is evident throughout through-out the play. Clear photography, beautiful beauti-ful settings and an able supporting cast mnke the picture a high-class production. |
