Show PUSS IPflEff IIS Will Install Compressor and Machine Drills; Mill Contemplated. An averag-e of approximately 300 tons of crude phosphate rock is being produced pro-duced daily at the property of the Western West-ern Phosphate Mining & Manufacturing company near Paris, Idaho, according to word brought down from the mine yesterday yes-terday by General Manager L. A. Jeffs and E. J.- Hanke. Manager Jeffs and Mr. Hanke went to the property last Friday to make preliminary pre-liminary surveys for the 100-ton crushing plant which the management proposes to erect during the next few months. The company has been shipping crude rock to the Paciiic coast for several months and it is proposed to erect the mill with a view to entering the crushed rock market. .Samples of the crude rock sent to eastern east-ern manufacturers have brought a flood of inquiries as to the amount of rock available and in what quantities and at what rate it is available. Some good orders or-ders are reported from western concerns and recent developments indicate that the western rock may find its way into the middle western markets in the near future. fu-ture. With a view to placing the property in condition to meet the market demands, the management announces thai power drills and other modern equipment are to be installed immediately. With the proposed pro-posed improvements, it is believed that the dally production can be doubled and probably tripled. The property is about three miles from Pans and under present arrangements it is neces&ary to haul the product to the railroad at Paris. The management has the question of building a branch line to the property up with the Oregon Short Line. Jn view of the demands for crushed phosphate rock and the orders already received for crude rock, Manager Jeffs helteves that at least 30.000 tons will be marketed within a year after the milt is completed. Just now the company is marketing mar-keting approximately forty cars of crude rock a month. |
