Show Z. C: M. I. WAR SAVING SOCIETY 1GIE0 Employees and Officials Inaugurate In-augurate Move for Bi& Thrift Drive. At one of the most enthusiastic meetings meet-ings ever held by Z. C. M. I. employees and officials, eleven war savings societies socie-ties were organized yesterday morning at S o'clock. The meeting -was called to order by F. S. Tingey, assistant pencral manager of the Institution, who stated the general gen-eral purpose of the gathering. He noted that n t a preliminary meeting held a few days ago the officers of the institution institu-tion had selected as general officers of the society, to include ttie whole siore, George S. McAllister as . president and H. J. Halton as secretary. Those officials were duly sustained and Mr. McAllister took the chair and presided during the work of organizing the other societies. Carl A. Badger was the principal speaker of the occasion and delivered .a stirring address on war savings. He rpad with feeling the story printed in The Tribune about the American troops being accepted by General Koch as a part of his forces to hold back the on -moving Huns and urged that every one do his bit toward supporting these soldiers in the creat task before ihem. There is keen competition between the war savings societies of the Inter-Mountain Electric company, especially between the Cubis and the Braves, just now. The Cubs are slightly in the lead, with $778 worth of purchases to $615 worth of purchases pur-chases that have been scored by the Braves. The per capita purchases of the Cubs is $13.85, while that of the Braves is $11. A complete check of the results of the great thrift army drive through Davis county to Ogden Saturday shows that a total of a little more than ??0n worth of stanms were sold on the trip. This is bet-j bet-j ter than was expected by the officials. |
