SPEARHEAD BREAKS INTO WHEELER LEDGE The Spearhead Gold Mining company broke into the Wheeler ledge, for which it has been hunting for the past three years, late last night, but the value of the find cannot be estimated for some time, as the strike was accompanied by such a flow of water that no samples could be taken, and it will take some little time to clear the workings. The ledge was cut on the 3S5 level and is believed be-lieved to be the same one from which the late Dr. E. A. Wheeler secured values at a depth of 2o0 feet. It was always contended that if the Spearhead struck that ledge It would be richly reward ed, as depth would give It the benefit of permanency and enrichment. enrich-ment. It was mainly with the object of reaching this known vein that the Spearhead Spear-head resumed operations three years ago. and the fact that it was not cut until yesterday was due to the vein having flattened out on its course instead of preserving pre-serving the dip found higher up. A. A. Codd came down from Reno- to verify the report and said the company would take st-ps to control the water so as to take samples.
