Show PETTY THEFTS ARE REPORTED TO POLICE Watches, Jewelry and Clothing Booty of Robbers Operating in Residences. P. V. Gushing, 455 Edith avenue, yesterday yes-terday reported to the police that a burglar bur-glar who entered his home some time Sunday night, by the use of a pass-key, had carried away jewelry valued at $50. The intruder opened all tlie windows and left the lights burning after robbing the house. While the family slept, the residence I of George Wareing, Fifth avenue, i was entered early yesterday morning, ac- ! cording to a report to tlie police, and a watch and $10 in cash was taken. Mr. Wareing said that the watch was hanging hang-ing at the head of his bed, which leads the police to believe that the thief used pads on the soles of his shoes to muffle the sound of his footsteps. It is thought that the same man, wearing "pads, , robbed the residence of Joseph Pecker, 369 Fifth avenue, where a quantity of clothing and several pieces of jewelry were taken while the family slumbered, and the room of G. W. Eataugh of Ka-nab, Ka-nab, at the New Grand hotel, who reported re-ported that $117 was stolen from his trousers pockets while he slept. |
