Show WAR SAVINGS DIE TO BEUVEIlf Committees to Make Vigorous Vig-orous Effort to Put State and County Over Top. The state war savings committee is going "slacker hunting" this week In a final effort to separate the laggers from the pushers in tho category of patriots. Ulaie.d over the results of last week s drive and tho generous response made to the war savings campaign by a majority ma-jority of citizens of all classes, the state committee now proposes to throw the spotllt-ht of shame on those who have not done their full shaie. Many of the richest and most influential influ-ential men of the state have taken a keen personal Interest In the campaign and bought the securities to the limit allowed hy the government. Un the other hand, however, it Is pointed out by the state commit too that many "big fellows" and those of the well-to-do class have manifested mani-fested li ttle concern I n the campaign. As a means of hunting out this class of citizen the postal records have boon thrown open to the state committed. Every person who receives mad in the city will be checked up and asked to show the reason why he or she has not purchased the allotment required. Utah's quota necessitated a per capita investment of $20 by every man, woman and child in the state In war savings securities. This means that the man with a wife e.nd three children would be expected ex-pected to purchase $100 worth of baby bonds. In many instances this cannot be done, particularly among the poorer classes, and the deficiency must be made up by the wealthier people and those who are better able to invest more than their allotment. Pledges and records of purchases of practically every citizen in Salt Lake who receive- mail are on record at the local postoffice. These will be gone over thoroughly by the state committee this week and a special drive inaugurated against those who failed to do their share. Tf you have made a pledge or purchased stamps your name is on record at the postoffice. If you haven't you may expect a visit or a letter of inquiry in a few days from the state committee. |
