Show FRANCE'S FINEST CANNON TO BOOM FOR THE PRESIDENT (By a Staff Correspondent of Universal Service.) Special Cable Dispatch. PARIS, Dec. 8. The finest cannon France's artillery can boast of will boom the royal salute when President and Mrs. Wilson drive through the great triumphal arch next Saturday morning, bound from the Bois de Boulogne railway station to the Murat residence, which will be the Parlsan "White HoUse" while America's chief executive is here. The same welcome wel-come that was given the kings of Great Britain and Belgium awaits the president. In point of popular acclaim, his reception recep-tion bids fair to outdo anything Paris or any other European capital has ever seen since Napoleon returned from Elba. Two special trains carrying French and Italian, and perhaps English, delegates will leave Paris on Thursday afternoon for Brest. Besides some of the leading peace delegates, there will be deputies from the French parliament and a number num-ber of ministers to meet the Wilson party at that port. Colonel House, accompanied by his secretary, sec-retary, will live aboard the special "Wilson "Wil-son train" until returning with the president presi-dent and party. The U. ' S. S. George Washington is expected to arrive at Brest Friday afternoon. The Wilson party will proceed to Paris the same evening, reaching here about 10 o'clock Saturday morning. A legal holiday has been proclaimed pro-claimed for that day. From the Btation Mr. Wilson will drive direct to his Parisian residence, change his clothes and then proceed to visit President Polncare, who will give an official luncheon lunch-eon to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson. In view of the monster crowds that are expected to line the streets In anticipation an-ticipation of catching a glimpse of the distinguished visitor. President Wilson's every move will require military lines, for which some French crack divisions already have been concentrated here. They will include poilus who fought in the most famous battles of the war, side by side with Americans. |
