Show ROYALTY MAY COME. : If King George of England, Victor Emmanuel of Italy, Albert of Belgium and President Poincare of France come to the United States to return the visit of President Wilson to the European countries, they will undoubtedly be wel-j wel-j cornel with all the fervor imaginable. I King Albert was in this country before he ascended the throne, but the British and Italian monarchs will have an entirely en-tirely new experience if they come over, as the editor of the Paris Matin, Stephen Lauzanne, asserts they will. With the exception of King Kalakaua of the Sandwich islands, this country has never entertained the head of a foreign government, so the American people will also have a new experience. It would not be a bad idea for all the emperors, kings and presidents in the i world to visit the United States after normal conditions return. They would be sure to learn much, and, at the same time, aid in bringing about that era of good feeling throughout the world , which wo all hope is coming. While 1 many royal and imperial houses of Europe Eu-rope have fallen and others are tottering, totter-ing, the kings of England, Italy and Belgium have come out of the war stronger with the people of their respective re-spective countries than when they went in, and their tenure seems fixed for some time to come. Albert of Belgium has become a national hero on account of the manly part he played from the time the Huns invaded his territory until the armistice was signed. He has likewise made a place for himself in the temple of fame. We hope the story is true and that the three kings and the president of France will come over the ocean to America. |
