Show HERRMANN'S BERTH MAY GO TO ANOTHER NEW YORK, Dec. 8. A caucus of National Na-tional league club owners was held here today to discuss questions which will come before the annual meeting of the league Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Presidents Presi-dents Hempstead, Ebbets and Baker of the New York, Brooklyn and Philadelphia clubs; Vice President Jones of the St. Louis club, and It was said representatives representa-tives of Pittsburg and Boston clubs also were present. It was the Intention ot the club owners to keep the meeting secret. r- The most important questions taken up were the naming of a new National league president and the candidate the National league will support for the chairmanship chair-manship of the national commission. What names were decided on is not known, but several members who have conferred with Acting President John Heydler of the National league reported that he is not eager to hold the office or president permanently. August Herrmann, president of the Cincinnati Cin-cinnati club and chairman of the national na-tional commission, was not present. It is understood the caucus session went on record as favoring a neutral man, with no financial Interests in baseball, as commission com-mission chairman. This would eliminate Herrmann, unless he severed his connections connec-tions with the Cincinnati clqb and sold his stock. |
