Show KUMAGAE, JAPANESE STAR, PROVES MODEST The "yellow peril," in a military way, may be something of a bugaboo, but it isn't in a sportive sense. Ichlya Kumagae, a Toldo youth, arrived upon these shores a short time ago, battled with Clarence O riff in, the wonderful California tennis star, and beat him handily. Kumagae never saw a tennis racquet until a few years ago, yet today he ranks among the greatest net stars in the world. And he still regards himself in the novice class. "I have many faults, but T hope, with more practice, to correct them," rhvs this modest Japanese boy, who, in vanquishing van-quishing Griffin, accomplished what few oiher men in the country have been able to do. |
