Show !TEB II PLAYERS MAY PERFORM HERE Coast Tennis Stars Considering Consid-ering Stopping Off; Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Tourney Plans. Salt Lakers will probably have an opportunity ia the near future to see some of the best tennis players in the country perform Jn exhibition matches. Louis Berrien, golf instructor at the Country club, who is a personal friend of William .Johnston of California, the famous tennis player now representing tho west in the i'ntersectional matches at Forest Hills, L. I., has written to Johnston, urging him and the other western players to stop off here. In case the pacific coast team should find it possible to play here, exhibition matches will be arranged, in which some of the star intcrmountain players will : tako part. The Intermountain Tennis association w-ould have charge of the competition. A reply to Berrien's letter will probably be received within the next few days, and so confident are the local tennis officers that the matches will be held that they are already al-ready making necessary arrangements. Paid Kassett, secretary of the Tnter-mountain Tnter-mountain association, is now mailing entry blanks and information concern" ing the intermountain tourney to prominent prom-inent players throughout the intermountain intermoun-tain region. As the city tournament draws to a close the interest of the whole tennis population in the state is being directed toward the approaching tourney. The list of prizes includes a gold loving cup for the winner of the women's wom-en's singles, which is expected to attract at-tract a largo number ot women net players. The cup stands twenty inches high on an ebony base, on which will be engraved the name of the winner. It was presented by the Western Arms store. The Salisbury cup, which stands eighteen inches high, will be awarded to the winner of the men's singles championship. cham-pionship. When it has been held for three yearSjby any player it will become his permanent property. A large bronze statue presented by tho Spalding store will be the prize for men 's doubles championship. The statue stands thirty inches high and depicts de-picts a tennis player in action. It rests on an ebony base encircled by silver plates on which the winners during the different years will have their names engraved. The tournament committee announces that numerous other individual indi-vidual prizes will be given for winners and runriers-up in singles, doubles and consolation matches. i The entry list will close at fi o'clock in llie evening on August C-f.
