NATIVE SONS LEAR P J ARMY VALUE OF CAR Led by Hundred Point Six KisselKar, Transportation Work Is Done. y Five hundred patriotic Californians, volunteering for the state encampment at Monterey, had occasion o' find jout the value of the automobile for military mili-tary purposes. Led by a Hundred Point Six KisselKar, Kissel-Kar, a string of ninety-six cars left Gun Francisco at 8 a. m. and arrived at their destination, 150 miles distant, exactly four hours later, as scheduled. Keeping up a pace of thirty to thirty-ftve miles an hour all the way, no serious mishap of any kind occurred. Tins is, indeed, n wonderful tribute to the (efficiency of the modern car. History will have a great deal to snv of the part automobiles have played lii the war in Europe, especially in the commissary com-missary and hospital service. In fact, it is not too much to assert that wit bout t hem suffering and want would have been vastly greater. Through these lessons the public is beginning be-ginning to appreciate that automobiles have revolutionized the world, cutting down time until there is scarcely anv-where anv-where that Is too far to go. |
