Show GERMANS INTRENCH FAR BEHIND THEIR PRESENT POSITION LONDON. Kept. 1S, 8:27 p. m. A dispatch dis-patch to the Exchange Telegraph company com-pany from Osten says: "The Germans are intrenching themselves them-selves strongly on the river Sambre from Maubeuge to Namur. I have snen important im-portant defensive works at Thuin, Far-ciennes Far-ciennes and Flore ffe. Many inhabitants of these places had been forced to perform per-form labor on the works. "I have been told that the same kind of fortifications arc being erected on the Meuse from Givet to Namur, but it is impossible to cross the Sambre to see for myself. I believe, however, my information is accurate." |
