Show DATE OF SAILING TO BE KEPT SECRET VAl-CARTIER CAMP, Quboc, Sept. IS, When the first contingent of the Canadian overseas expedition, comprising around 22,000 officers and men, sails for England, about 10,000 other troops will be left behind. It had been generally supposed sup-posed that the latter force would be used to form the nucleus of a second Canadian division, but Minister of Militia Hughes stated tonight that many of them would act as a reserve and would he sent to England a few weeks after the departure of the first contingent. The date of sailing sail-ing will be kept secret as far as possible. It is probable the Canadians will have gome training on English soil before joining join-ing the British and French forces on the continent. The name of the officer who will command the contingent is not known outside of official circles. |
