Show SOX SPLIT IN DOUBLE WITH DETROIT TIGERS DETROIT, Oct 4. Chicago and Do-troit Do-troit split a double-header hero today. Tho first contest, marked by two batting rallies In the eighth Inning, went to the Tigers, 7 to 5. Reb Russell, invincible in the pinches, shut out tho locals In the second contest by a 1 to 0 score. The gamp was called on account of darkness at the end of the sixth. Detroit hit three pitches hard in the opening contest. Benz laBted four innings and Clcotto two. "Doc" White blanked the locals in the seventh, and his teammates, team-mates, finding Dauss for three hits and an equal number of rune in the eighth, put Chicago In the lead. Cobb opened tho Detroit half with a Blngle, and three hits. Including Plpp's second triple, fol- lowed. They produced four runs, enough to. win the game. Detroit had many chances to score in" the second game, but Easterly's splendid throwing aided Russell to break up their attack. The White Sox scored their winning win-ning run in the fourth when Chase singled, sin-gled, took third on sacrifices by Bodle and Chappell, and came home on Easterly's East-erly's single.
