MONROE, Oct. 4 Tho patrons of tho Sovicr count' schools were given a chance to vote on the quostiou of a boot harvest vacation this month. Labor is scarce and the sugar faotory will begin be-gin operating in a fow days. About oOOO tons are- needed to start operating. operat-ing. Tho results of the vote in this district shows a largo majority in favor fa-vor of tho vacation, as tho growers must havo tho help of tho boys and girls to harvest the boot crop. The Monroe canyon wagon road was completed tins week and opened for travel. Work was first 6tarted on this road by tho people of Monroe to reach tho timber on tho Monroe mountain. About $12,000 has boon spont on this road. The people of Monroe furnished furnish-ed about $5000 and the forest Horvioe about $7000. The road has been completed com-pleted to tho top of tho mountain. Tho sawmill is being movod to Niol-son Niol-son hollow, whoro thcro is a largo body of timbor, mado available by tho completion com-pletion of tho canyon road. |
