Show JUVENILE JUDGES DISCUSS FiSlllS Slit Skirt Held Responsible for Immorality Among Young Girls. Ethics of the modem feminine 'fashions, 'fash-ions, or the lack of them, was the subject sub-ject of a discussion at a conference between five juvenile court judges and the members of the stato juvenile court commission held in the office of the governor yesterday. Tho foibles of fashion have ceased to be mere foibles and have become a real menace to the moral wolf arc of boys and girls, according to the opinions opin-ions expressed. All agreed that juvenile juve-nile court officers should be instructed to combat this evil o dress with all possible influence The slit skirt with its consequent expose of twinkling, silk ankles, tho "shuffle" walk, low neck dresses and waists that libel the original purposos for which clothing was invented, came in for untempered criticism. The adoption adop-tion of these fashions hy young women and girls was decried as one of the most insidious influences for evil against which tho juvenile courts havo to operate The out-of-town judgos reported at the meeting that to all appearances tho immorality among young peoplo throughout the state, over which so much alarm was shown by tho juvenilo court officials some timo ago, is on tho decrease, duo, they said, to a systoinatic and tireless campaign by tho juvenilo court workers. Before adjourning the iudgeB took occasion to condemn tho hatband descriptions de-scriptions so prevalent on tho streets at this time and other streamors sold by street hawkers at times of carnival 'and special occasion. It was decided to conduct a campaign against these things. Among those present 'at the conference, confer-ence, aside from the members of tho state commission, woro Judge D. T. Lewis of Provo, Judge Alexandor Mc-Master Mc-Master of Salt Lake, Judgo H. A. Pe-terBon Pe-terBon of Logan, Judge V, 0. Gunnell of Ogden and Judge T. H. Burton of Nephi. |
