Show PRETTY PLAY IS GIVEN BY ORDER OF THE GLEAM Before a well-filled house, the Order of the Gleam, one of tho literary clubs of the university, presented tho little Irish drama "In the Land of Heart's? Deslro" at the university assembly hall Saturday evening. The play tells the story of a peasant family of Ireland, of their superstitions and the strong belief of Malro. their daughter. In fairies. Ono evening three persons enter Hie hojne, and tho last of tho three, a child, strews flowers over the floor upon entering. The old priest, who Is present. Is commanded by the fairy child to remove his crucifix. After lie has obeyed, tho fairy begins working her charms before the peasants and finally succeeds In Inducing tho farmer's daughter to go with her to fairy land, where sho Is kept prisoner by tho spells of the fairies. Nora Pendloton, as 0)0 wlfo of Maur-tccn Maur-tccn IJruln, was especially good In her part, as was Welthca Learned as the little fairy. The whole cast carried out the parts with skill and ability and without with-out many of tho defects usually shown In a group of amateurs. Following tho play, an Informal dance was given by tho club. |
