Show H PREPARATIONS FOR H NON-FREEZING LIQUIDS There are usually threo preparations used in the radiator of an automobilo to pl?ve.It freezing, namely: Calcium chloride, glycerine and wood alcohol. The calcium chloride solution has a tendency to attack the aolder and destroy the metal; the glycerine Ih Injurious to tho rubber hose; the alcohol 1b abnolutely j harmlesB. A 10 per cent, solution of ul- cohol will withstand a temperature of 1 15 degrees above zero. A "25 per cent bo- Hi Jutlon will stand a temperature of 2-1 dc- 1 grecs below. Generally Bpeaklnp, a 25 1 per cent solution will bo found sufficient. Hl As Maxwell cars have no pump, there 1 is no possibility of leakage, and one flll- ing of alcohol solution will Inst practically H all winter. The alcohol evaporates more rapidly than water, nnd nny loss should be replaced by equal parts or alcohol and H water. |
