Show JESSE KNIGHT WINS; GETS THE INTERURBAN Special to Tho Tribune. PROVO, Fob. 12. Tho fight between Jesse Knight and tho Evans-Chipman crowd for interurban railroad franchise through Utah county and into Salt Lake county was sotHcd hero today and "Uncle Jesse Knight has gained cvory noiut for which he has contended in the building of an interurban railroad system sys-tem from Santaquin in the south end of Utah county to Salt Lake City. The two factions held a meeting hero today, at which Jesso Knight was elected chairman and Johu D. Dixon secretary. At this mooting an agreement was reached wheroby tho Evans-Chinman people withdraw from tho field and will join forces with the Knight interests. The basis on which the agreement wiib reached gives Jesse Knight at least 51 per cent, if is inferred, of tho capitalization, capital-ization, which gives him control of affairs af-fairs and the building of the road, and to so continue for three years or until tho road is built and in operation. Each side, it was agrocd, should have four members of tho board of directors and the ninth member was selected from the outside, also by stipulation. Tho board of directors ns agreed upon is as follows: fol-lows: Jesso Knight, president; J. William Wil-liam Knight, W. Lester Mangum, Ji. E. Allen, all of Provo; Stephen L. Chip-man Chip-man of American Fork, .A. J. Evans of Lchi, II. T. Reynolds of Springvillc, George O. Whitinorc of Nonhi and Joseph Jo-seph J3. Keclor of Provo. Tlio first four named are Knight pcoplo and the following fol-lowing four are from what has been termed tho Evans-Chipman crowd. The ninth man, .Tosoph B. Keclor, is the director di-rector agrocd upon by both parties. Tho amount of the capitalization has not been decided on. Jesse Kuight has had the support of tho Pro- I vo Commercial club, and now thai, the rivalry botween the two contending factions fac-tions for a franchiso has ended, a committee com-mittee from tho club will urgo the granting of a franchise by all the othor cities in the county. |
