According to a letter received todaj' in this city from the Bishop of Uganda, Africa, tho name of former President Theodoro Eoosevolt has been placod on tho hospital hos-pital there and, as ono of the biggest hospitals in New York was already called Roosevelt by himself, tho letter shows that two of tho most important of such institutions on each sido of tho "world has the name of tho strenuous American. When Colonel Roosevelt sailed for Africa it was not thought that he would formalty open hospitals. The letter of tho Bishop of Uganda, in which mention was mado of Colonel Roosevelt's action, contains the following follow-ing history: ' ' Yesterday wo had the great pleasure and pnvilcgo of seeing Colonel Roosevelt. Wo asked him formalty to open them. This he wns kind enough to do. Tho hospital will, therefore, bear his name. "Wo are greatly sorry he is staying such a short while. Two nights is all. Wo feel jealous of cast Africa absorbing so much of his time. He seemed extremely well in health and wns keen to learn all about our mission work." |
