There was a decided decrcaso in the number of deaths reported to tho city board of health tho past week as com-' pared with tho previous week. Last week the deaths numbered fifteen, whilo during dur-ing tho week beforo there were thirty deaths rcportod. Of the total deaths the past woek, eight wcro males and seven were females. , Tho births reported during tho week numbcrod forty-two, of which twenty-thrco twenty-thrco wore males and nineteen wero females. fe-males. The previous week there wore fifty-eight births roportod. There was one body shipped into the city for burial during tho week. Tho records of the health department showed twenty-eight cases of contagious and infectious diseases reported during the week, while during tho previous week there wcro twenty-seven cases. At the close of tho week, six houses wore in quarantine on account of smallpox; small-pox; sixty on account of scarlet fover, and five on account of diphtheria, whilo six cases of smallpox remained in quarantine quar-antine in tho isolation hospital. |
