Show GIRL IS ASSAULTED; SUSPECT SHOT Excitement Run? High Following Follow-ing Capture of Man Believed to Be Guilty. By Leased Wlro to Tho Tribune. MOBILE, Feb. 12. At Woodstock, five miles north of this city, Aliss Ivatie Walters, white, aged 14, was assaulted and ravished by an unknown ncjjro, who, after committing tho crime, beat her head cruelty and escaped. Great excitement exists there as well as in Mobile, and it is almost certain that tynching will take place if. the negro is caught, who is being pursued by armed posses. Two suspects were arrested, Iho first man proving an alibi and was released. At 7 o'clock deputy sheriirs captured a negro giving the name of Henry Mosely and carried him to a drug store. Excitement was at the highest nitch as tho news spreatl that the assailant had been captured and a large crowd gathered. The officers made an effort to conceal the negro in the siore, but (he crowd being in an ugty mood, broke down a door and took the negro to the house of the victim for identification. Mo was tied with ropes and a chain passed about his neck. At the house the Walters girl said at first that he was the man who attacked her and then, after looking closer, stated she was not so suro about it and asked that he be held in -iail for a few days until she could recover from her nervousness that sho might be able to more fully identify him. On being escorted back to the store some one in the crowd fired a pistol and tho negro was seen to drop to the ground. It Could not be learned who did the shooling.
