Christie, a farmer living noar Rudolph, his wife, his daughter Mildred, aged IS years, and Michael Soy limine, a farm hand, were murdered today by unknown persons. It is supposed that the murder was the result of an attempt at-tempt to secure a largo sum of money supposed to hnvo Jbeen in tho Christie home. The murder was discovered when John T. Soymnine, the father of the iarm hand who was slain, wont to the Christie- homo to visit his son. Mr. Christie, who was 52 years old and ono of the most 7rospcrous farmers in tho northwest, was milking a cow in his barn yesterday when tho unknown un-known persons shot him dend. I he murderers hurried to tho house, and finding Mrs. Christie and her daughter and tho Sovmaine boy prepared pre-pared to fight them, began firing. The tirst, shots took effect and the two women and the boy fell dead. It is supposed the men who committed commit-ted tho crime wero acquainted with the Christie family. Few persons know that Christie kept largo sums of money in his house. It is believed he had several thousand dollars in his homo at the time of the murder. The entire countryside is aroused. Bands of farmers wore immediately organized and a pursuit of the murderers mur-derers was begun. |
