All of the lodges of the state have taken headquarters head-quarters in the City of the Angels; for tlie week and will attempt to outdo each other in the way of providing a pleasurable pleas-urable time for tho 150.000 Elks and friends who are expected to swoop down on tho southern city during the big round-up of the Elks. Thousands of dollars' worth of prizes will be given away during the week. Parades, sight-seeing, banquets, excursions, excur-sions, lish dinners, oarbecues and fishing fish-ing excursions to Ontalina island arc among tho many events on the high-jinks high-jinks programmo for the grand lodge members. Mnnv of the best bauds in tho country will compete at Los Angeles An-geles for the $1000 prize which is offered. of-fered. , Tho larger portion of tho delegations delega-tions to Los Angeles will pass through Salt Lake. Each delegation will travel in private cars and will be accompanied accompa-nied by a band. The advance guard will arrivo on Tuesday. Julv 0, when Grand Exalted Ruler Rush I;. Ho will just mingle with the Elks in a Fpirit of goodfcllowship and see Iho city, hoar the organ recital re-cital at tho tabernacle, and then take in tho doings at Saltair. t Tho committees which have been working on the details of the plans for entertaining the visiting Elks have t completed their programme. Salt Lake tfft' -will have reason to feel proud of Iho 5p manner in which the hospitality of the citv is maintained by tho Elks. While there are many members of the Elks who havo automobiles of their own which havo been generously do-natod do-natod for the entiro week for the use of the visiting Elks; there will be a big demand for machines, especially on Wednesday and Thursdav, which will be the heaviest days of the week. The automobile committee of the Elks have received offers from many non-iiicinbers contributing the uso of their machines for a day or a part of a day in showing show-ing the "visitors about the city. The autos will be under the direction of Thomas Homer, chairman of the reception recep-tion committee of S00 and all proffers of the use of machines for any part- of any dav during the week will bo received re-ceived by him, A schedule of the time that machines can be utilized by the committee will be kept at the club, and the" will bo returned as soon as the time agreed upon by the owner for their return. Thursday, July S. will be Purple Day at Sallam This will be the big dav of the week, as most of the special trains will arrive on that day. Special trains will be run to the lake for the Elks and their visitors, and, all of Salt Lake is invited to attend' the social session by the water. That the ladies who accompany the visiting Elks will bo well taken care of is guaranteed by the enthusiasm which has boon displayed by the women folk of Iho local. FAka. A committee of women has been appointed 1o look after the entertainment of the women who accompany the parties, and their plans include 'luncheons at the club house and various other entertainments.
