Show PAYNE BILL SENT TO FINANCE COMMITTEE WASHINGTON", April 10 The Payne tariff bill reached the senate from the house two minutes past, noon today, and was immediately referred to Hie committee on finance. The bill was transmitted to the sen-ato sen-ato by Chief Clerk Browning of tho house. As soon as tho chaplain had concluded con-cluded the opening praver ho was announced, an-nounced, and without dolay delivered tho house bill which had passed that body. Mr. Aldricht chairman of the committee on finance, was instantly on his feet, and moved the reference of the mcasuro to his committee. The motion' mo-tion' prevailod, and thero was no further fur-ther comment. An additional print of the bill of 2000 copies was ordered for tho uso of tho senate. It is believed that the receipt of the bill at this time will insure its report from tho committee on finance not later than next Tuesday. Very fioon after the bill had been received in the senate the Kepublicau members of the commilloo rosumod their sitting, with the intention of continuing in session not only through the da3' but late into the night. |
