Show Correspondents of Eastern Newspapers Are Visiting Salt Lake. MAKING WESTERN TOUR AFTER STRENUOUS TIME Will Call Upon President Smith at the Lion House Today. A party of newspaper men representing represent-ing sonic of the foremost newspapers and periodicals of tho country arrived in Salt; Lake City Tuesday noon over the Denver Si flio Graudo under the chapcronago of O. X Blanchard, publicity pub-licity chief of the United States reclamation recla-mation service Tho party has just completed its work in connection with tho political conventions held at Chicago Chi-cago and Dcnvor. From Denver thoy arc traveling west to sec tho progress being mado in the reclamation work of the government. Several of those in tho parly made a similar trip last 3'oar with Mr. Blanchard. While in Zion tho visitors will bo shown the points of interest. Col. J. A. Bouton of the Denver & Rio Grande, n special connnittco from the Press club aud friends of various members of the 'party greeted tho newspaper men on their arrival in tho city. The committee commit-tee representing the Press club is com-.poseil com-.poseil of Parley Jensen, J. II. Garrett and Burl Armstrong. The party was taken from the depot to tho Knutsford hotel, where a short stop was made. A sight seeing trip occupied the afternoon. The party visited vis-ited Saltair in the evening as the guests of Joseph Nelson and J. B. Laugford. Dinner was served early in the evening even-ing and the party thou took in the attractions at-tractions at the resort. Automobile trips through the city will be made Wednesday morning and at 10 o'clock thero will be an organ recital. Following tho auto rido tho party will visit President Joseph F. Smith at tho Lion ho'uso. The last stop of the party was mado at ZSIontrosc, Colo. The Strawberry- project in central Utah will not bo inspected by this par-tv. par-tv. but Secretary Garfield will be m tins section to lo'ok that over within a short time. The paTtv will leave in tho afternoon at 3:30 for Reno. A trip up and down the coast will bo mado beforo the homeward journey begins. Those in tho party arc: Patrick C. Hill received a telecram late Friday evening from New York, stating that his wife was seriously ill. Mr. Hill will leave immediately for the East. |
