As a forerunner forerun-ner of the general Increase of about 10 per cent In freight rates to bo mado by tho Eastern trunk lines in the near future, fu-ture, the Now York Cent nil railroad has tiled with tho Interstate Commerce commission com-mission a new rato on sugar and coffco between New York aud Chicago. This means an 11 per cent Increase in the present freight rates on coffco betweon tho two cities and 7 2-3 per cent lncreaso In I he present rato on sugar. The new rates will go Into effect 011 August 1, instead in-stead of October 1, as at first Intended.
