A terrific storm A I of wind, rain and hall prevailed in St."! , ' Louis and vicinity for a short time this afternoon, causing considerable ! i damage to property. One man, named ! O'Toole, was killed by lightning at his jH home and five others were Injured by flying missiles. ( IH The maximum reached by the wind , was sixty-five miles an hour, but this voloolty was sustained for only a mln- ijH ute or so, or tho damage might have lil been much greater. The average ve- loclty was about forty-eight miles. B Many Homes Unroofed. ! jH Twelve barges were blown across the ' , jH river and eighteen or twenty houses on IH Twenty-first street, between Washing- JH ton and Carr streets were completely' 'iiH unroofed, and other damage through- ' JH out the city.
