Fairbanks of Indiana, Republican candidate, for Vice-President, is a guest at Sagamore Hill tonight. to-night. The Senator arrived- unaccompanied unaccom-panied at Sagamore Hill this evening-. It was expected that he would arrive earlier, hut he mlesed connections ut Long Island City and was delayed nearly near-ly an hour. Greeted by the People. The Vice-Presidential enndidnte came directly from Indianapolis," and was accorded ac-corded a cordial reception at the station as he alighted from the train. He responded re-sponded to greetings by lifting his hat. Senator Fairbanks was conducted to the President's- carriage And was driven directly di-rectly to Sagamore Hill. As the open carriage passed through the village Senator Sen-ator Fairbanks was recognized bv many persons. Welcomed at Sagamore Hill. His reception at Sagamore Hill was characterized by noticeable cordiality. President and Mrs. Roosevelt and George B. Cortelyou. who Is a guest of the President, gave Senator Fairbanks Fair-banks a hearty greeting. He was driven to the summer executive olllce, where he was joined by Secretary Loeb. Together they drove to Sagamore HIM. Chairman Cortelyou declined to make any comments, either on tho candidates nominated bv the Democratic party, the action of the St. Louis convention or the platform. He was here, he said, to confer with tho President and Senator Fairbanks. Bliss Returns to New York. ..An hour later Mr Bliss arrived from New York and was taken to Sagamore Hill in one of the President's: carriages. It won expected that he would remain until tomorrow, but he was obliged to return to Now York this afternoon. Mr. Bliss declined to discuss the details of the afternoon conference. Entertained at Dinner. The President and Mrs. Roosevelt entertained en-tertained Senator Fairbanks and Chairman Chair-man Cortelyou at a family dinner tonight. to-night.
