Show BREAKAWAY DAY OF U. OF U. NORMALS Yesterday the '04 normal class of the Unlvorslty indulged In a number of high Jinks and demonstrations. It was their annual "Breakaway" day, and they did break away from all such nuisances nui-sances as books, teachers and class-looms. class-looms. Early in tho morning the future pedagogues ped-agogues congregated In a body at the school and marched around the campus cam-pus shouting their yells and ' singing their class songs. After a prolonged demonstration of this sort President Worlton called the students into private pri-vate council. He recalled how, four long years ago. they had on this same day inaugurated a holiday, and then as proud freshles how they skipped their classes In order to accompany their new girl student companions on a pleasant May walk. Amid cheers and yells the chief stepped down from the rostrum and started off In the direction of Fort Douglas. The merry students followed In couples, the boys carrying a luncheon lunch-eon which the girls had prepared. Ar-. riving at the fort, they proceeded to possess themselves of suitable luncheon quarters, and then followed a royal banquet. After the banquet the students were seen to scatter out in all directions. Some returned home, but the far greater number found It Impossible to "break away" and strolled off In the direction of the enticing mountains. In the evening they enjoyed the pleasures of a dance which was given by the girls of the class. |
