LUMBER DEALERS WILL CLOSE EARLY Agree to Close at 1 O'fJlock Saturdays Satur-days During' the Heated Torm, Beginning- This Afternoon. WHAT may bo considered tho first step in an early-closing crusade in this city was consummated yesterday when all of the leading lead-ing lumber firms of the city signed an agreement to close their placos of business busi-ness at 1 p. m. on Saturdays throughout through-out the summer season, beginning today. to-day. The agreement, which affects about 200 employees. Is signed by the following lumber companies: Taylor-Romney-Armstrong. George rtomney. Sierra Nevada, Taylor-Romney, Morris & Merrill. Salt Lake Building and Manufacturing. G. F. Felt. Burton Coal and Lumber, Asper, N'oall & Co., Utah Lumber, Pacific Lumber. The half-holiday during the heated term will prove a boon to the working people who receive the benefit of It, and It Is urged that there are few lines of business In which it could not be granted with profit alike to the employers em-ployers and the employed.
