Relative to the new age order of the Pension bureau, he said: "Applications for pensions under the new nye order are now coming com-ing in. I presume 25.000 are already on file. Many of them have been filed under the mistaken idea that the ago order menns that the claimant will receive re-ceive a second pension; that Is,- If the claimant Is already receiving- a pension pen-sion and is over 62, that he Is entitled to another. Nevertheless, the number of applicants so far who will have their pensions raised 52 a month Is probably 20,000. "The amount which this order will cost the Government has been grossly exaggerated. The great death rate among old soldiers will keep the pension pen-sion roll In such shape that the increase in-crease In pension payments will not be perceptible to the taxpayer?. "I am much Interested to find from the newspapers that I have resigned again," said Mr. Ware, In reply to a question. "The truth is. there are about a d07.cn candidates for my office, jind to deprive them of hope would be cruel."
