MILLION DOLLAR DEAL IN COAL MINES SAN FRANCISCO, May 13. One of thc largest mining deals ln the West ln recent yeara ls the yale of the Black Diamond coal mines in Washington for $1,000,000 to the Pacific Coast company of this city. The deal has Just been consummated and the property, formoxly controlled by tho Belllngham Bay Improvement company com-pany of which P. B. Cornwall Is president, presi-dent, has Just been transferred to tho Pacific Coafrt. company, which ls a coal mining and Importing company, an adjunct ad-junct of tho Pacific Coast Steamship company. H. II. Taylor ls president of the Black Diamond Mining company, with ofilces ln this city. The Black Diamond coal mines are near Belllngham bay, on the coast of Washington, and the Belllngham Belllng-ham Bay railroad, recently purchased by E. H. Ilarrlman from P. B. Cornwall, Corn-wall, and the Belllnghom Bay Improvement Improve-ment company, runs through tho coal country and was built to develop the mines, which .are considered a valuable property.
