Show Eggs That Defied Flame and Seat Were Cold Storage Vintage, Belonged, to Lunchroom, Went Through. Baltimore Fire. BALTIMORE, May 13. In clearing away the debris from the plot of ground where stood, before the fire, a lunchroom, the workmen dug up several crates of eggs today, ln which each one occupied a pasteboard compartment. These eggs were a part of a large consignment placed In the storeroom of the restaurant on February Febru-ary C, and they came from a cold storage stor-age warehouse. On February 7 "the building was burned and with ten thousand tons of Btone, iron and brick on top of them, the eggs have reposed In tho basement of the place. Three dozen of tho eggs woro broken by the workmen, and each one was found to be as fresh apparently a3 the day they arrived at the restaurant. The albumen was not coagulated and the volks wero ln their natural state. All this despite the fact that the crates themselves were charred and the past-board past-board sodden with water. |
