Show DIVORCE CAUSES MURDER TERRIBLE TRAGEDY COMMITTED COM-MITTED NEAR BUTTE Alexander Tate Shot Dead and His 1 Wife Seriously Wounded by Charles Paustcin l Butte Mont May 12 Charles Paus I teln aged about thirty years a blacksmith black-smith helper and football player and wellknown athlete this afternoon shot I and killed Alexander True manager of a butchering concern shot and1 serious j I ly wounded Mrs Alexander Talc and 1 I when the police went to find him he was lying dead Sn his room with a pistol wound In his head having committed suicide I Pausteln was married to his wife at I Vancouver three years ago She sued for a divorce on the ground of cruelty This afternoon the decree was granted Within a few hours Pausteln armed l himself with a revolver and started for I the home of the Tates about two miles south of town and about a mile beyond be-yond the slaughteringhouse with which 1 Tate was connected The Tatcs had been In town and when they drove up I lo their home In their buggy Paustcin was waiting for them As they alighted Pausteln walked up to them and exclaiming You are responsible re-sponsible for the seDaratlon of me and my wife began firing The first shot sti uck Tate In the forehead and he fell dead The next struck Mrs Tale In the hand The third hit her in the head but glanced and did not penetrate to the brain She fell unconscious and Paus teln thinking he had killed her also started for town A boy coming along helped Mrs Tate Into the buggy and drove her to the slaughterhouse from which place tho alarm was given The police started out to find the murderer Tho first place they went was to his room In tho Steele block whoro he has been living since separating sepa-rating from his wife The door was forced On tho bed lay the body of Pausteln There was a bullet hole through tile right temple and alongside along-side the body lay I a revolver The Tates so far as can be learned had nothing to do with the family troubles trou-bles of the Paustelns except that Mrs Pausteln and Mrs Tate hod been neighbors neigh-bors and friends |
