Show New Ideas for Leap-Year Parties. Par-ties. They are holding leap year parties par-ties in Troy. An exchange says: The leap-year party at the residence of a gentleman in Washington Park, last evening, was a very unique affair. Borne of the gentlemen present were attired in n semi-female dress, and the head-gear being a good imitation of the style which prevails among the ladies. One of these female personators wore car-rings and necklace, and cooled his fevered brow with a fun, which he waved to and fro with artless grace, and behind which he concealed his blushes as the ladies boldly told him their tales of love. When supper was announced, the gentlemen were served in the parlor by the ladies, and after the former had eaten their fill, the fair servitors withdrew to the dining-room, where they held a sort of high carnival, carni-val, leaving the gentlemen to console themselves as best they might with each other's society. This was a re taliatory act upon the men for their ex-olusiveness ex-olusiveness when they are in power. The party was voted a great success, and will, very likely, be followed by others. |
