Show Child Learning Disability? Here's A Lab FARMINGTON A series of four sessions dealing with ways parents can assist children chil-dren having learning disabilities disabili-ties is set to run Nov. 4. 1 1 . 18 and 25 at the Parent Education Resource Center in Farm-ington. Farm-ington. LOCATED IN the Monte Vista School. 70S. 200 E.. the program is geared to parents who know or suspect their child is learning disabled. A news release from PERC outlines out-lines their definition of a "learning disabled" child. "A child who seems bright in every way and has no specific speci-fic physical disabilities but cannot achieve in the classroom clas-sroom is often labeled learning disabled. No one really knows how many children are affected by this disability. For parents it is confusing and although most want to help, few know what to do." THE SESSIONS will begin each Wednesday at 7 p.m. with three major objectives: develop de-velop and understanding of what a learning disability is and how a learning disabled child affects the family: provide pro-vide an opportunity to meet with families having similar situations and exchange ideas; teach parents techniques for working with the learning disabled dis-abled child in the home. Judith Southworth. holding a master's degree in education psychology and counseling and guidance, will act as group leader. She has taught as a resource re-source teacher and in the unit for behaviorally handicapped in the Davis School District and currently serves as resource re-source teacher at Millcreek Jr. High.
