The "no-parking" restriction will be in effect until March 31, the chief said. He explained that the ordinance is necessary to allow efficient snow removal but emphasized that the ordinance will be in effect and enforced despite the weather conditions. "I KNOW it puts a hardhip on some vehicle own-( own-( ers," said Chief Higgins, "but it's the only way the I city has of keeping the streets clear of vehicles and I allow for efficient snow removal." He noted, however, that because cars are parked i in driveways and closer to residences, there is less chance of auto theft and auto burglaries. "And it's I the holiday season when these crimes seem to flour-j flour-j ish," the chief said, grb ) i |
