BLODCETT BOUNTIFUL The city council gave unanimous conceptual con-ceptual approval to a proposed recreation complex to be developed de-veloped on .V6 acres of property proper-ty beginning at about 2050 South Main in Bountiful. "I'M VERY excited about it. the recreation complex proposal gets my full support." sup-port." said Councilman Paul Allen in making the motion for approval of the site plan concept. con-cept. He said the development w ould not distract greatly from the recreation facilities offered by the city. "1 Jl'ST wish that the complex com-plex was in conjunction with Bountiful's sports complex." he said. "But since it isn't, all I can say is that it should make a beautiful addition to the area and eliminate that eye-sore motorists have entering the city from the south." Mr. Peterson also agreed to work with city officials regarding regard-ing the construction of the complex to be certain it meets all city building and safety standards, as well as prov iding adequate parking. THE RECREATION center is planned for construction on a "triangle-shaped" lot formerly for-merly used for recreation v chicle chi-cle sales. The site i in a combined com-bined residential-commercial area but is quite a distance from the nearest homes. The complex will feature an arcade building, sports complex com-plex of handball, rucquclhall and tennis courts, niinatuie golf course, a small lake for "bumper boats." trampoline center, a large water slide, skate board park, exercise course, hot tub and bath house plaa. restaurant for fast foods, tot lot and plentiful open space and picnic area. MR. PETERSON said a new sport called "whirley ball" is also being introduced at the park. He emphasized the park, to cost in excess of SI .5 million to develop, will be family oriented. i |
