| Show MADE A STUBBORN FIGHT STUBDOJN Details of the Capture of a Couple of the Bandits Kansas City Mo Sept 8A special to the Times from Memphis says Charles Abrams and Link Overfield the two farmer bandits arrested forth for-th ir part in the attempted Santa Fe robbery were only captured after a stubborn fight Both had made their way directly to their homes situated sixteen miles southeast from here in a lonely art of the country Abrams who is the man that received the full load of buckshot in the face was compelled com-pelled to walk the entire distance it be ins his horse that was killed by the detectives Arrived at home Abrams was secreted behind a dresser He had practically run the whole distance and when Sheriff Saling and his posse with the railroad detectives came up to the house he was faint However when he knew that escape was out of the Question he made a bold attempt to stand off his captors with a revolver The officers had the drop on him and he finally gave in After he was handcuffed the search for the other prisoners was resumed On the farm of Mrs D Tull nearby the officers found Overfield who had crawled under a bed The house was first surrounded and a delegation sent in to make a search Mrs Tull and her two daughters stoutly denied that Overfield was in the house Overfield showed fight when discovered but be fore he could use a revolver he was grabbed by one of the officers A fierce struggle ensued with the bandit but finally he was overpowered Then both the men with two brothers of Overpaid around whom suspicion aiso iv s = were handcuffed and taken to Ar jmphi5 The search for the remainder of the gang is being kept up The t jx < mna tion of the four men now unier arictt will take place tomorrow I |
