A DIRECTOR ANGRY Sees Xo Reason Whs the Fellows Were Allowed to Escape Topeka Kan Sept lShe Santa Fe train held up afc Gorin Mo arrived at Topeka at 1130 today on time L Severy of Emporia one of the directors di-rectors of the Santa Fe was on the forward sleeper He was returning from New York city where he had attended at-tended the meeting of the board of directors di-rectors uI had no intimation whatever said he to an Associated Press reporter that there was to be an attempt made to hold up the train I was asleep and was awakened by the torpedo the robbers rob-bers had put on the track as a signal to the engineer to stop the train Then came about twentyfive shots in rapid succession toward the front end of the train Two of the detectives were on the tender and ready to receive the robbers rob-bers They had a good position but so far as we know none of the robbers were killed They did kill one horse and captured another however I see no reason why with seven or eight men ready and waiting armed and equipped the robbers were allowed to escape
