Show Seeing Eyes In January, 1929, The Seeing See-ing Eye dog guide school opened in Morristown, N.J. Since that time, thousands of blind men and women have been returned to an active life with the help of well-trained, Seeing Eye German shepherds, or other breeds. IT'S A wonderful work and the U.S. Postal Service will soon recognize this fine public service with a special commemorative com-memorative stamp. Next spring a history of the famed guide-dog foundation will be published by E.P. Dutton. Seeing Eye receives no government aid; it is a philanthropic organization. It accepts applications, and aid, from all. It charges $150 for a trained dog and the month's board and training of recipients (only a fraction of the cost) but has never denied a dog to a satisfactory applicant (of good character and health) because of a lack of funds. OVER TWO hundred blind persons a year leave Morris- town with a new life ahead of them because of Seeing Eye. It is, without doubt, one of the more deserving of the nation's na-tion's philanthropic organiza- |
