Show Centerville Police Cars and Policy CENTERVILLE - The city council here is not sure it wants its police cars used for private business outside the city. THE COUNCIL took under advisement a request to restrict re-strict its police cars within the city limits, unless police officers are on official assignment as-signment while on duty. But the city has four police officers who live out of the city, including one in Kays-ville Kays-ville and three in Bountiful. CITY Administrator Kenner Killpack noted that the officer who lives in Kays-ville Kays-ville is 7.2 miles from the city hall. He noted that Bountiful has a policy of allowing police officers to live and drive to and from work up to seven miles from Bountiful City Hall. Councilman Robert Ar-buckle Ar-buckle said he approves of using the cars to get to and from work but was emphatic that they should not be driven out of the city on private business. Councilman Duane C. Price agreed. MR. KILLPACK said the police department is presently operating under a 1973 policy which allows off-duty off-duty travel to other south Davis County communities, specifically Bountiful, Far-mington, Far-mington, Woods Cross, West Bountiful and North Salt Lake. The council agreed to postpone post-pone action on a revised policy until a further study could be completed, grb |
