Show Sego Lily Chapter DAR Meets The Sego Lily Chapter; Daughters of the American Revolution, held their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. George P. Hibler. MRS. E. IRVING Alter reported on the DAR schools and means to secure funds for them. Two schools, a boarding board-ing school and a day school, are entirely funded by the national organization. Mrs. Horace Beesley reported on the Good Citizen Award and the Student Loan and Scholarship Committee which has been introduced in our area high schools. One of the aims of the society is the education and encouragement of our youth to study our American history and awarding their efforts in good citizenship. AN INFORMATIVE lesson was given by Mrs. Sutherland Clayton on "Women in the Revolutionary Period." She showed many beautiful handmade hand-made spreads, quilts and pillow tops. This art is enjoyed en-joyed today as much as it was a necessity in the past. We would encourage women with a revolutionary ancestor to join with us in our chapter in honoring our ancestors and preserving our American heritage. The next meeting will be held Nov. 14 as a luncheon meeting at the Servus Drug in Bountiful at 12:30 p.m. SENATOR JAKE Gam's office will present a lesson on national defense. Guests are invited and reservations may be made by contacting Mrs. D. Earl Hess, 292-3884. |
