Show DDsdetBs Piropsur Fim LepDn I By DAVE WIGHAM KAYSVILLE - Here it is again October, the deer hunt and the Darts undefeated in region play. So what else is new, right? Well how about it, the Darts have company at the top this year. LOGAN HIGH is enjoying their best season in a long time with the Grizzlies hold, ing onto a 5-0 league record which matches the Darts out put this season in Region Four. The main difference between these two schools is that the Darts know what this is all about this time of year while the Logan school is new at ;h'S championship talk. IT'S ONLY fitting that these two should meet to decide the title rather than have it decided by another school. These two have the best records going into the game and the winner will probably win the league. 1 say probably because the Darts still have Ben Lomond on their schedule with the Logan i club still to play Woods Cross. Back to the biggie this t week. Game time is 7:30 p.m. ' under the lights at Davis. Sorry Logan, that puts you in a hole to start with. Remember though the game is on Thursday night. LOOKING AT the statistics these two clubs are about as equal in regards to playing opponents as you could get. Davis has allowed 58 points to be scored against them compared com-pared to 68 for the Logan club while the Darts have put up 124 points while the Grizzlies have scored 132 to their credit. No matter which way you look at this coatest the result is the same, it's going to be a great high school football game. All the region marbles are on the line. PEOPLE LIKE Mike Mounteer, Brad Petersen and Kevin Criddle running well and quarterbacks Todd VanBrocklin and David Bates throwing the ball, the Darts have one of the most potent offenses in the area. To watch the double wing in action is something to behold, unless you happen to be a defensive player trying to figure out just who does have the football. Davis has thrown for more touchdowns than they usually do, but with the throwers and receivers they have this year no one blames Coach Cullimore. LOGAN MEANWHILE runs the ball, and runs it well. Their signal caller Brad Jar-dine Jar-dine is back after a good year as a junior, the Logan club fielded a very young club last season, and is very effective at running the option play. Fullback will be Chris Hatch with Keith Nelson going at tailback for the Grizzlies, both saw a lot of action a year, ago and both are good runners. t Davis seems to get better as the year goes on, and this year they are as good as they have been in some time. The Darts like to win the big games, they have done it so many times before that it would be almost un-American for them not to win the league title. Logan is enthusiastic and hungry for the title, but history favors Davis in this outing. In any event both clubs will show up in the state tournament. |
