Show Centerville Man Seeks State Treasurer Spot Golden L. Allen, former state treasurer (1969-1972) and state boxing commissioner, commis-sioner, has announced his intention in-tention to seek the state treasurer post on the Republican ticket. HE IS presently a Tax compliance officer in the State Tax Commission. Mr. Allen, born and reared in Box Elder County, received his B.S. degree in accounting at Utah State University, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honorary scholastic fraternity. HE ALSO attended the University of Utah, the University of Arizona's Naval School, and Stanford University Univer-sity Investment School. Mr. Allen served as ship's captain in the Pacific theater in the navy in world war II. Prior to enlistment, he was principal of Kanab High School. FOLLOWING THE war, he continued educational pursuits pur-suits as instructor of business law and accounting at LDS Business College. His accounting experience includes: Auditor State Board of Education; Accountant in CIT's regional accounting office. J GOLDEN ALLEN MR. ALLEN is active in his church and in civic affairs, having served as Centerville City Recorder and sergeant-at-arms in the House of Representatives (1973). He has chaired several fund drives and local PTA organizations. or-ganizations. He has been active in the Republican district and county organizations. HE AND the former Helen Hoffler of Logan make their home in Centerville. Thev are the parents of five children. Backed by experience in , education, accounting, municpal government, and as state treasurer, Mr. Allen justifies his confidence to serve as custodian of the state's finances. HE STRONGLY advocates keeping tax monies working in Utah by investing its idle funds. By pinpointing each day's receipts and expenditures expendi-tures as prior State Treasurer, Mr. Allen was able to keep the state's monies active ac-tive in the State and cash investment in-vestment earnings maximized. Cooperation with other State political subdivisions is essential to proper budget operation and progress of the State's business. |
