This is accepted by a unanimous I! vote of the Council. Engineer Chad Mitchell was present to talk of the engineering and design of the project. The contract for the engineering, surveying, etc. has been drawn up. Mayor Green said that he would give it to Attorney Attor-ney Keith Stahle for perusal. Mayor Green also informed Mr. Vaughan Fowler, of the Pyramid Corporation that he had no right to protest his company's not being included in the district. They were not a part of the area included. Pres. Jim Simmons, and his associates of the Bountiful Chapter of the Jaycees, attended at-tended the meeting to talk of beginning a chapter of that organization in Centerville. The Council was favorable to the proposition. This will include young men from the ages of eighteen to thirty-six. The city voted to sponsor the first Jaycee. Councilman Steve Myers was chosen unanimously, on the motion of Councilman Dean Layton and the second of Councilman Tom Randall, for the honor. It is necessary to have twenty members for charter. THE JAYCEES passed out copies of "We the People", a souvenir edition, a one-time publication of the Bountiful Jaycees for the citizens of the South Davis County area. The publication includes copies of the Declaration of Independence, Indepen-dence, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, The Monroe Doctrine, and the Gettysburg Address. It is hoped that all of the citizens of the area will carefully read these historic documents in this Bicentennial Bicenten-nial Year. Copies of the publication will be given to all citizens of the South Davis County Area. , MAYOR GREEN read a letter from the State of Utah asking that the week of May 2-9 be declared National Music Week in Centerville. This is sponsored by The National Na-tional Federation of American Music Clubs. The Council so declared on the motion of Councilman Myers and the second of Councilman Bob Arbuckle. Tobe and Beverly Pittman again attended the council meeting to ask about the possibilities pos-sibilities of the utilization of their land. They are still interested in possible Sr. Citizen Ci-tizen Housing. COUNCILMAN Arbuckle read a letter from the Public Health Department informing the city that the department must approve all the extensions exten-sions of the water lines in the municipalities. Mr. Arbuckle suggested protesting the action. ac-tion. Councilman Layton led a discussion concerning the redoing of the road on Porter's Lane. The gas company com-pany has promised to repair the damage done when the new gas line was installed. The work will be done when the weather permits. The police department was I granted permission to purchase a motorcycle to be used in patrolling the hills east of the city It will be used to attempt to deter cvcle enthusiasts from straying off the prescribed trails as they ride in the hills. Mrs. Lue Child had asked the city to participaie in the West Bountiful Boun-tiful parade. Mr. And Mrs. Allan Larsen and Mr. Sieve Carlson attended at-tended the meeting to learn of the workings of city government govern-ment in connection wiih their classes in history. |
