The application must be in before June 1. The decision on whether Bountiful will receive the grant will be around September 1. If granted, the construction would begin immediately for completion next year. THE LOCAL money will come from the sale of the city lots around the golf course. The council then indicated to the mayor that they didn't wish to participate in the county Bicentennial parade. MAYOR SWAPP indicated that the county will give the city $100 to build a float to enter in the parade on August 1. The parade would start near Farmington and end up in Lagoon. The mayor was against the idea, By taking us all into Lagoon they are trying to commercialize the whole Bicentennial spirit. I have a negative attitude toward any activity involving the Bicentennial theme which ends up a profit to someone." THE COUNCIL agreed that a float costs more than $100, and that the city already has a float in the 24th of July city celebration. Also they are spending about $1 000 for fireworks on the 4th of July. The council voted unanimously to not participate in the county parade in August, dw |
