Current pieces now owned by the school include two paintings paint-ings and a bronze sculpture. THE collection pieces are located in the high school's main foyer and may be viewed at most any time. The goal for Bountiful is to acquire more pieces and make their foyer an aesthetic asset to the school. Individuals In-dividuals interested in building build-ing this collection should contact the school. Ken Baxter is the artist of the painting featured today. He is a graduate of the University of Utah and has taught art at Skyline and South High School for a total of five years. HE HAS been painting full time for about one year and presently teaches painting classes at the Davis Complex, University of Utah. The painting features the historic Heber C. Kimball Mill. The structure has since been destroyed, but was once located at the comer of Mill Street and Orchard Drive in Bountiful. THE construction of the mill began in October of 1852 and was completed sometime in the fall of 1853. The mill was very active until a new, more economical and efficient ef-ficient method of milling grain was developed. The mill was then used as a small confectionary store. A stone replica of the mill now serves as a marker for this historic structure of the past. |
